Puebla

For all of you who thought I was going to take a nice easy vacation in Mexico... think again.  Just survived a week long project that was INTENSE.  We were at school every day from 9am to 9pm (until 3am on friday!)  with an hour and a half for lunch.  The scope of the project was really large for only having one week to work on it.  Two large blocks in Puebla´s downtown historical district bordering a pedestrian walkway and a busy one way street (20 bus routes!).  No matter where I go I just can´t get away from downtown mixed use projects!  My group was made up of 2 Cal Poly students (both fluent in spanish) and 3 Pueblan students.  All of our discussion was done in spanish and I went home every day with a headache from trying to understand what was going on.  We had some great artists in our group.... and I did some watercolor.  Got a pretty good review as well.

Today we have an assignment to complete and then Monday we are off to Mexico City.

Hola Kirsten. Thanks for the e-mail. What a week. I bet your Spanish is improving being in a group of fluent speakers. Sounds like Puebla is just like any busy city. Hope you have some time to look around. Thank you, Thank you for your wonderful surprise. I love the peacock and cactus, they are just so gorgeous and unique. I can't tell you how excited I was to get it last week. After a long day it was so fun to see what you sent. I LOVE IT! I put it on the living room table. The intricate painting on such delicate wood is amazing. It is hard to believe the hours it must take to paint it. Thank you for thinking of us. It made my week! Hope you got some rest this weekend. I'll be anxious to hear how you like Mexico City. Oh by the way, some of my kids typed a response to your email, did you get it? I wasn't sure and they've been asking. When you have time try it again. How are you feeling? Getting used to the cuisine? Anxious to hear from you this week. Take care, be safe (I know you will) and we love you! Love, Mom
